Carcinoma of the esophagus developing in stricture from ingestion of lye.

Abstract
This is a case report of carcinoma of the esophagus developirg in stricture from irgcst.ion of lye 30 years ago. The causes are not krowi), but it is thought that chronic irritation and fibrotic tissue per se would be a factors for it. Long history of swallowing difficulty from ingestion of lye and sudden worsenirg are suggestive of that malignancy if foreign body obstruction of the esophlagus is excluded.
Esophagoscopy with biopsy is important for diagnosis but the more important is consideration for the development of the maligancy in strictured lesion of csopl-agus from ingestion of lye. Treatment is early diagnosis and resection with esophageal reconstruction,
